intro

T lymphocyte activation and differentiation involves antigen recognition plus interaction between costimulatory molecules and their ligands in myeloid cells. These interactions deliver signals that are essential to mount immune responses against pathogens and cancer, or to develop autoimmune diseases. Our interest is focused on the role of CD28, the CD28 homolog molecule ICOS (CD278), the ICOS ligand (ICOS-L, B7h, CD275), and PI3K signals in T lymphocyte, NK cell and antigen presenting cells in vitro or in vivo using pharmacologic and genetic approaches. We are also interested in the use and impact of nanomaterials to modulate innate and adaptive immunity.
