The CIB Margarita Salas receives the Distinction of Equality in the VI Edition of this award granted by the CSIC

The Centro de Investigaciones Biológicas Margarita Salas received on April 16, 2024 the Distinctive of Accreditation in Gender Equality of the CSIC in the sixth edition of this award, corresponding to the year 2023.

The jury has decided to award this distinction, as well as an economic endowment of 5,000 euros, to the CIB Margarita Salas in recognition of the adaptation carried out of the measures contemplated in the CSIC Equality Plan; for the involvement of the management and all staff, including their representatives, in the design and implementation at the Institute of gender equality policies and positive action measures against gender-based discrimination. It also recognizes the design of inclusive advertising content and the disaggregation by gender of personnel data; and the implementation of information, training and awareness-raising initiatives on equality and non-discrimination, as well as scientific dissemination activities with special attention to encouraging scientific vocations in girls.

Two runners-up prizes were awarded in this call, to the Institute of Materials Sciences of Madrid (ICMM) and the Center for Research and Development (CID), respectively.

The Delegate Commission for Equality launched in 2018 the CSIC Equality Distinction, in collaboration with the Women and Science Commission, with the aim of highlighting and recognizing those CSIC institutes, centers and units that have developed a relevant activity in terms of equality, thus contributing to promote the gender perspective as a transversal category in all aspects of CSIC's operation and to advance in the promotion of measures aimed at eliminating the barriers that women encounter in the exercise of their profession.
