Description

The Network "Biotecnología de materiales lignocelulósicos: retos enzimáticos, químicos y moleculares para su aplicación industrial, energética y medioambiental" (RED LIGNOCEL, www.redlignocel.es) is a Spanish Forum which provides the exchange of knowledge and discussion among working teams with interests in the area of Biotechnology for the use of plant biomass as renewable resource for the production of highly demanded consumer goods.

RED LIGNOCEL (BIO2011-15394-E) is funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness and it currently gathers more than thirty scientific research groups and companies coordinated by Dr. Susana Camarero from the Biological Research Center of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).

The main objective of this network is to facilitate dissemination of the generated knowledge concerning the principles of the microbial and enzymatic degradation of lignocellulose. Furthermore, RED LIGNOCEL aims to contribute to the assimilation of the real problems from the industrial processes to the group research lines and to support the transfer of the results to the participating companies.
