The Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) has announced the results of the second call of the MaX-CSIC Project, a key initiative to promote scientific excellence in its centers and institutes. In this phase, the Margarita Salas Center for Biological Research (CSIC), together with 28 other CSIC institutes, has obtained the ASPIRA-CSIC “Sagrario Martínez Carrera” distinction, moving on to the second phase of this project.
The award is accompanied by an endowment of up to 300,000 € for implementing the Excellence Plan proposed by the CIB Margarita Salas in this call, which will be developed over the next three years.
In addition, 35 new CSIC centers and institutes have joined the project, after passing the evaluation of the first phase, and have obtained the ASPIRA-CSIC “Josefa Barba” label and an endowment of €20,000 to advance to the next phase.
The MaX-CSIC Project (Framework for Self-Assessment and Evaluation of Scientific and Social Excellence-CSIC) has three phases. The centers that pass the first phase, consisting of a self-evaluation and an external evaluation by a committee, receive the ASPIRA-MaX “Josefa Barba” seal of excellence. In the second phase, the selected centers develop a scientific project and a three-year excellence plan, and the positive evaluation in this phase accredits the ASPIRA-MaX “Sagrario Martínez-Carrera” seal of excellence. In the third phase, the CSIC Scientific Advisory Committee will evaluate the impact of the DEEP-MaX program in the center, and the centers that pass it will receive the ASPIRA-MaX “Margalida Comas” seal of Excellence, the highest recognition for scientific excellence awarded by the CSIC presidency.
