September 14 to 17 will be celebrated at Novotel Madrid Center the 17th European Meeting on Complement in Human Disease of the European Complement Network (ECN) and whose local scientific committee chairs the Prof. Santiago Rodríguez de Córdoba, researcher of the Molecular Biomedicine Department of the Biological Research Center and coordinator of the Complement Program II of the Community of Madrid, to which the rest of the members of the local organizing scientific committee also belong.
The congress, under the auspices of the Spanish Society of Immunology (SEI) and with 12 sponsors of the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, will be attended by more than 500 participants of international origin and intends to be a meeting between professionals in the field of complement to share and discuss cutting-edge issues grouped in the thematic areas of structure and function, complement therapies, infection and autoimmunity, complement genetics, complement-related diseases and animal models.
It begins on September 14 with the Teaching Day, developed by leading researchers in the field of complement, which has 4 plenary sessions and four practical sessions aimed primarily at predoctoral students, as well as those researchers who begin their work in this area.
Between Sunday and Tuesday, the oral scientific sessions will take place, a total of eight that include 44 communications, as well as the two poster sessions, where 183 works will be presented. The Keynote Lectures will be taught by two top-level immunologists: Dr. Marina Botto, whose talk will focus on the C1q protein, and Dr. David Jayne, who will talk about the inhibition of the complement system in patients with ANCA Vasculitis.
This edition puts a special focus on rare diseases, and has a Symposium dedicated entirely to the latest advances in the field of an ultra-rare disease, C3 Glomerulopathy. In addition, a Lunch Seminar dedicated to Hereditary Angioedema will be held.
Molecular Immunology magazine prepares a special issue that includes 12 reviews on the complement system and all the abstracts presented to the congress.
