The first edition of the Awards of the Spanish Association of Laboratories for Orphan and Ultra-Orphan Drugs (AELMHU), created to recognize the best jobs and professional careers in research and dissemination of the rare diseases and orphan drugs, was held at the Royal National Academy of Medicine on November 21th.
In the category of Best Research Career in Rare Diseases and Orphan Drugs, Dr. Luisa María Botella, researcher at the Centro de Investigaciones Biológicas (CSIC) and CIBERER member, was awarded for her search for treatments for von Hippel-Lindau disease and Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT).
The awards are endowed with 3,000 euros that have been entirely donated to projects linked to rare diseases and orphan drugs and attended a total of 33 applications.
