
The researchers of the Centro de Investigaciones Biológicas Vanesa Nozal, Alfonso García-Rubia, Concepción Pérez, Ana Martínez and Valle Palomo were awarded on December 20th, 2018 with the Real Academia Nacional de Farmacia Award within the Scientific Contest 2018 promoted by this institution.
The work, unpublished and anonymous, presented by the group to the contest is titled "Optimization of the strategy of union in the design of promising multidiana compounds for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease" and was awarded ex aqueo with 6000 euros. The awards ceremony took place on January 17th, 2019 at the headquarters of the Real Academia Nacional de Farmacia.
The other award-winning work was "Effect of β-amyloid peptide in the activation of microglia: ATP release", presented by Aida Menéndez Méndez, Juan Ignacio Díaz Hernández, Felipe Ortega, Rosa Gómez Villafuertes and Javier Gualix, from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine from the Complutense University of Madrid. In addition, a secondary award was given to "Encephalitozoon cuniculi as a possible triggering agent of multiple sclerosis", presented by Cristina Isabel del Río Arias, Carolina Hurtado Marcos, Soledad Fenoy Rodríguez and Carmen del Águila de la Puente.
