
Dr. Valle Palomo, “Junior leader” and head of the group Biosensors and Chemical Biology at the Centro de Investigaciones Biológicas department of Structural and Chemical Biology, has been awarded within The Caixa Impulse Program offered by the “la Caixa” Banking Foundation for her project focused in innovative treatments for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.
The Caixa Impulse Program aims to drive the transformation of scientific knowledge into business that create value in our society. The program is designed to reduce the existing barriers from research to commercialization facilitating access to market and key knowledge. The program offers a highly qualified training program that is provided during 4 weeks in Barcelona together with personal mentoring and expert advice to guide the successful projects into their way to the creation of a spin-off or transfer agreement.
Dr. Palomo’s project is focused on the area of health and life sciences, where 21 projects have been selected in the 2019 call. The research project will be funded with up to 100.000 euros for one year.
The Grant Award Ceremony for “la Caixa” Health Research 2019 Call was held at “la Caixa” Foundation headquarters in Barcelona on September 16th. The ceremony was presided by the Spanish Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, Pedro Duque, Isidro Fainé and Jaume Giró, president and general director of “la Caixa” Banking Foundation and Javier Solana, member of the Board of Trustees and the Advisory Council of Research Experts of the foundation.
