
On January 17th, 2019, the Center for Biological Research (CIB) received the institutional visit of the President of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Rosa Menéndez, who was accompanied during her visit by Elena Domínguez, Vice President of International Relations of the CSIC, and Víctor Velasco, Vice President of Organization and Institutional Relations of this institution.
Throughout the day, she held meetings with the members of the management team of the CIB (its Director, Mª Jesús Martínez and the deputy directors Teresa Suárez and Javier Cañada) and the Internal Scientific Committee of the center (Patricia Boya, Flora de Pablo, Antonio Romero, Julio Salinas, José Luis García, Miguel Ángel Peñalva and Dolores Pérez Sala), to discuss the achievements of the CIB in recent years, its needs to continue growing and its future projection.
Next, she visited the facilities of the CIB and had the opportunity to know some of its scientific services. To end the day, she held a meeting with all the center staff in which she commented on her vision of the CSIC and its perspectives of growing, and answered the questions of the attendees.
Rosa Menéndez was named President of the Spanish National Research Council by the Government of Spain on November 17th, 2017, becoming the first woman to preside over this public institution dedicated to research, the largest in Spain and third in Europe.
