The MCIB Master student, Tanja Holzknecht, has been awarded with the first prize in the "Brain Wars: the future is in your hands" contest, which is organized by the Madrid UCM Student Chapter with the support of the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry.
The main goal of the competition is to promote research, debate and dissemination of knowledge between young researchers, promoting science and technology in attractive fields for the general public.

The participants had to present their scientific work in an accessible way, emphasizing how the results of the specific research would help to improve society.
Tanja is finishing her Master's final project under the supervision of Dr. Ruth Pérez (Translational Medicinal and Biological Chemistry) and Dr. Sonsoles Martín-Santamaría (Computation Chemical Biology). Her presentation, entitled "May the force field be with you", deserved the first prize awarded with 150 euros. She will also have the opportunity to speak as a special guest next year in the third edition of the contest. Congratulations!
