
The 1st Annual Meeting of the ITN Network DRIVE (Driving next generation autophagy researchers towards translation) was celebrated in Madrid with an internal meeting in La Cristalera (UAM, Miraflores de la Sierra) held on January 30-31 and a special ITN Workshop on "Autophagy Essentials" celebrated at Centro de Investigaciones Biológicas on February 1st.
DRIVE action counts with the participation of the CIB researchers Patricia Boya and Ana Martínez, and the predoctoral students Petra Teresak and Ines Maestro Inarejos, in collaboration with another 13 international partners and focuses on bringing together some of the world experts in autophagy and lead industry as mentors to train a novel generation of scientists with the potential to drive the field towards translation.
The "Autophagy Essentials" workshop was opened to a general public and counted with the attendance of more than 100 people all over Spain. The speakers were the recognized experts in the field of autophagy Patrice Codogno (Institut Necker Enfants-Malades, INSERM, France), Anne Simonsen (University of Oslo, Norway), Fulvio Reggiori (University Medical Center Groningen) and Patricia Boya (CIB-CSIC, Spain).
