
On October 26, 2022, was published on the AEI web the Provisional Resolution of the Public Grants for Proof of Concept projects, of the State Program to Promote Scientific-Technical Research and its Transfer, State Subprogram of Knowledge Transfer, of the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research for the period 2021-2023, in the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. In this call, the Centro de Investigaciones Biológicas Margarita Salas (CSIC) leads 4 of the selected projects for whose implementation will receive funding of 600,000 €.
This call is meant for the transfer of knowledge and results, promoting the early stages of pre-competitive development and facilitating its practical application, as well as the protection of the knowledge generated, the analysis of the technical, commercial, or social viability, the obtaining of technological prototypes, the development of the pilot scale, the tests with end users, the definition of the business model, or the first stages of the creation of a company.
The four selected projects, led by researchers from the center, were:
- Translating tumor biology into personalized medicine: Development of a prognostic and predictive test for stage II colon cancer patients, COLOPROOF (Ignacio Casal).
- Valorization of riboflavin- and dextran-overproducing Weissella cibaria strains for manufacturing innovative bread with contrasted functional properties, PANVITDEX (Gloria del Solar)
- Ultra-precision medicine for dense deposit renal disease (Cristina Vega)
- Development of a potential immunomodulatory therapy for retinitis pigmentosa (Enrique de la Rosa and Catalina Hernández)
- Fighting against Parkinson's disease with SGK1 inhibitors, SGK4PD (Ana Martínez)
