The COST Action “European Network of Multidisciplinary Research and Translation of Autopahgy Knowledge”, “TRANSAUTOPHAGY” (http://www.cost.eu/COST_Actions/COST-Association/CA15138), has just been approved for the next four years, in the frame of the EU Framework Programme H2020.
In the Consortium there is an active participation of researchers from CIB: Patricia Boya (group Roles of autophagy in health and disease), present coordinator of the Spanish Network of Excellence on Autophagy, Pilar S. Testillano (group Pollen biotechnology of crop plants) and José María Sánchez-Puelles (group Molecular Pharmacology). The network will be coordinated from the Barcelona University and integrates 156 researchers of 21 countries and 10 European companies. The project foresees biomedical advances in prevention, diagnostic and therapy in pathologies such as cancer and neurodegeneration, as well as advances in the field of agriculture, human diet and alternative sources of clean energy.
The network TRANSAUTOPHAGY will organise workshops, congresses and collaborative research actions, offering opportunities to young scientists and supporting gender equality, with the main objective of speeding the translation of the generated knowledge in products and processes for their use in biomedicine and biotechnology.
