Description
Polycomb complexes play an important role in self-renewal and pluripotency maintenance of stem cells. A project has been initiated focused on Rex-1, a homolog of YY1, the only Polycomb protein able to bind DNA, whose expression is restricted to embryonic and adult stem cells and in preimplantation development. An ongoing effort to identify targets by chromatin immunoprecipitation will allow to determine the pathways involved in Rex-1 function in stem cells.
